Is this year going to be your year for success in your business? You’ll have to up your game and improve your vacation rental host qualities. Here are a few tips to get you started!

Offer Convenience

If your vacation rental is located near some popular amenities, make it convenient for your guests and leave a basket filled with information. For example, if there are museums or major shopping malls around, leave some pamphlets. You can also leave some menus for local restaurants.

It’s extremely likely that your guests won’t be from around the area, so having a newspaper delivered each morning will be convenient for them to learn about what’s going on around them.

Make Your Guests Feel Special

Because who doesn’t like feeling like they matter, right? Going out of your way will show your guests they are more than just another person renting from you – make it known that they matter and you want them to feel special. But how?

  • Leave a welcome gift – Impress them from the moment they walk in the door with a gift on the table. Whether you want to leave a bottle of wine with some nice glasses or a bouquet of flowers, combine it with a “thank you” note, and it will leave an everlasting impression.
  • Personalize your bathrooms – Rather than expecting your guests to bring their own items, why not offer complimentary shampoo, conditioner, soaps, and towels? Also, make sure your bathroom is completely spotless and upgraded.
  • Check-in – Of course, you don’t want to overwhelm your guest with phone calls. However, at least one time during their stay, check-in and make sure they have everything they need and ask if there is anything you can do for them. This will show you truly care about their needs.

Be Available – But Set Limits, Too

You can’t just expect to receive bookings and not communicate with your guests. It’s essential to be available for when they need you. Whether they have a question or something breaks down, they may need to contact you. Be available but at the same time set some limits.

For example, after a certain time of day or night, you could say all calls must be for an emergency only. Make sure when you say you’re available, you don’t just send your guests to a voicemail. During times you are available, make sure you answer the phone when they call. This will show reliability.
