Now is the Perfect Time to Take an Online Course

Are you currently sitting at home binging a show on Netflix? Writing down a list of all the things you would like to do during your quarantine? Deciding between reading a book or listening to a podcast series? If you’re like us, you’re doing all the above, as well as taking an online course to further your knowledge and education.

online course and learning

With dozens of websites and online platforms to choose from, the internet has made it very accessible to take our learning to the next level. And most importantly, to have fun doing so.

Still unsure if taking a course is right for you? Check out some of the benefits here:

Career Progress: Master Your Craft

Nowadays, many businesses and organizations encourage their employees to enroll in online classes or courses to help strengthen their skills and job performance. As technology and new developments are constantly on the rise it is important to stay up to date and learn how to implement new strategies and advances into your work ethic.

Edgar Dale developed one of the most prominent theories related to design and learning. His theory named the Cone of Learning, states that learners retain more information by what they do, more than by what they read or hear. Thus by taking a course, it is vital to then teach the knowledge you have learned to truly absorb the information. Once an employee is able to share and teach what they have learned, both they and the organization benefit.

Mental Health: Begin Your Personal Growth Journey

Under stressful times, it is easy to become anxious or let worry and stress shadow goals and aspirations. Taking an online course allows one to develop healthy habits that you can continue to grow even after finishing the class.

  1. Exercise your brain – setting aside time to stimulate your brain activity will help you learn time management and focus.
  2. Develop a new skill – by giving yourself new goals to achieve, you are allowing yourself to feel accomplishment and add a new skill to your resume. When you practice a skill, cognitive or physical, your brain creates neuron connections that allow it to understand that it is taking in new information.
  3. Step outside of your comfort zone – don’t let your personal doubts hold you back any longer and embark on a new journey of personal growth. There are hundreds of courses that will show you how to build yourself up in new ways.

Flexibility: Set Your Own Pace

One of the big benefits of taking an online course? You can do it from anywhere, at any time, and at your own pace. There are many courses built to track your progression and teach you in the way you want to be taught.

Whether you are learning how to make spreadsheets and graphs, a new language, or how to become the chef you have dreamt of being, take advantage of the flexibility to become a master.

No matter where you are in the world now is the best time to sit down, focus, and begin a new adventure in online learning.

Travel Advice During the Coronavirus Outbreak

As a traveler you may currently be checked in to your flights, have your bags packed, and ticket in hand, but also wondering, should I be traveling during the Coronavirus Outbreak?

travel during coronavirus outbreak

With numerous cancellations and travel restrictions to affected areas, travelers are left to make the decision — to travel or not to travel. Many national and international airlines and transit stations are still fully operational as your destination may be in a green zone.

However, due to the rapid rate at which the coronavirus outbreak is spreading, it is always a good idea to check ahead to make sure you are entering a safe and secure area.

With preparation, caution, and some helpful tips from CuddlyNest your travel can go perfectly smoothly and according to plan.

Airports and Transit Stations:

If you are traveling through an airport or transit station in any location at this time, you are likely to come in contact with other travelers and employees of the facility. Try to avoid the self-check-in kiosks and fingerprint scanners in lounges.

When you arrive at the counter show your boarding pass or ticket on your mobile device. Or bring a printed out a copy to prevent passing your mobile device between yourself and the attendant.

CuddlyNest tip: Keep copies of your boarding pass on both your person and mobile device.

Practice Personal and Public Hygiene:

The best practice is to keep hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes on hand at all times. Wash your hands frequently and for at least 20 seconds, and try to avoid shaking hands or physically touching another person. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, and always cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.

To greet a friend or colleague you can wave, bow, or namaste! These gestures go along way to maintain your health and prevent the spread of infection in public settings.

CuddlyNest Tip: Hand sanitizers that have between 60-95% alcohol are the most effective, according to the CDC.

Practice Social Distancing:

You may be hearing the phrase “social distancing” a lot over the next couple of weeks. It’s simple. Avoid large crowds and smaller spaces. If you have plans to attend a large event of more than ten people, email or call ahead, as many events have been canceled or postponed.

For something to do and see during your trip, choose an outdoor setting that is open and allows you to explore in seclusion.

CuddlyNest Tip: Check out lists of free open-air things to do in the area you are visiting, like a stroll through a scenic park.

Prepare for Unforeseen Changes:

While you may be traveling to an area that is not yet affected by the current outbreak, unfortunately, this can change in a matter of days. It is always a great idea to have a trusty Plan B. Know your options in case you have to modify your travel plans.

Some of your planned activities may change as a result of businesses closing their operations during the outbreak. Follow travel and news accounts in the area so you can be sure to get updates immediately.

CuddlyNest Tip: Familiarize yourself with the national website or state website for the area you are traveling to. These sites will have the most up to date and accurate information.

Coronavirus Outbreak Cancellations and Rebookings:

Many airlines and online travel agencies, including CuddlyNest, have flexible cancellation and rebooking policies, especially during the outbreak. If you choose to travel, be aware that the information about COVID-19 and travel policies are being updated daily. Before you travel be sure to contact your insurance provider and check the policies on travel in the location you will be visiting.
For more information on the current Coronavirus Outbreak check the official WHO website.
