In the 19th century, by order of King Louis-Phillipe, Versailles became the Museum of the History of France, with its rooms being devoted to housing new collections of paintings and sculptures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Made of white marble from Makrana, in Rajasthan, the Taj Mahal combines a range of architectural styles, such as Islamic, Persian, and Indian styles. Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The castle is a 19th<\/sup> century Romanesque Revival palace that sits on a hill above the village of Hohenschwangau, in southern Bavaria, Germany. Neuschwanstein was commissioned by King Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and in honor of Richard Wagner, a famous German composer and theatre director. Interestingly enough, the place was built with the King’s personal funds, rather than the Bavarian public money. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, when entering Neuschwanstein, you’ll see that many rooms, such as the Singers Hall, were inspired by some of Wagner\u2019s characters. The word \u201cNeuschwanstein\u201d, by the way, literally means \u201cNew Swan Castle,\u201d which is a reference to \u201cthe Swan Knight,\u201d one of the composer’s characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designed by the firm Integrated Design Associate, the Terminal 2 of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport boasts an impressive alpine-wood roof, with arches that span every 30 meters, allowing the terminal to be as column-free as possible. The project has even won an award at the World Architecture Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Louvre Museum, France<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The most interesting feature about the building is the fact that it\u2019s made of timbers displayed in a parametric shape, which allows sunlight to flood the apartments while at the same time maintaining the privacy of the inhabitants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Angkor Wat, Cambodia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
