Fabulous historic 4* Boutique Accommodation The Band of Brothers House named after 101st Airborne, the photograph of them passing the front door on 7th June 1944, reproduced on the Aga splashback. Well appointed, extremely comfortable sleepover 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms in a stunning location
Perfect for 2 people or for a family, or friends, in a group of up to 6, the house is in an amazing location not only steeped in history, has perfect access to discover the region. Situated in the village square of the 1st village liberated on 6th June 1944 by 101st Airborne, it's in the heart of the D Day Landing beaches, located right opposite the church of Sainte Marie du Mont, a world famous church – with Bayeux, Mont St Michel & all the other Invasion Beaches just a short drive away. Brecourt Manor literally just around the corner, Utah Beach less than a mile away.
Butcher, Bakers and Restaurants all on the doorstep plus when in season Oysters direct from Utah Beach are for sale in the Shellfish shop right next door.
We can organise War Tours, trips to Mont St Michel and other spots, car hire, even meals...we offer A La Carte Services.
Well behaved dogs are welcome & we don't charge for the pooch!
With three spacious bedrooms, two with super king beds and one with en-suite, there is more than enough room for 6 but is also perfect for couples only too. With a family bathroom and additional cloakroom, we really have put a lot of thought into making the best of this perfect retreat in the centre of this significant sleepy French town of such importance.
The claret red Aga is certainly at the heart of this home in the gorgeous french rustic kitchen. If you want an Aga cookery lesson that can be arranged. The house is also pet-friendly…. with a dog loo in the garden too! We can even recommend a vet that speaks perfect English for the passport return journey too. For example, this is a perfect destination to get away from Halloween & Bonfire night in the Uk if your dog is stressed with fireworks!
Totally renovated in 2014 while retaining the character and history.
On the 1st floor the most gloriously proportioned master bedroom, decorated in blue toile de Jouy, we refer to this as the blue room. A 2nd small double/ large single along with a large family bathroom room with a substantial Italian walk-in shower, double sink unit plus a loo.
The 2nd double bedroom with ensuite on the 2nd floor is self-contained with its own staircase & a super kingsize bed - the 2nd floor, totally self-contained is the 3rd bedroom and ensuite.
The layout really lends itself to 4 people travelling together or a small family. We find we usually are accommodating 2 sets of friends or for example, mum, dad with daughter & son in law with perhaps a grandchild, the house has also worked for 4 sisters travelling together!
Downstairs an open plan living area, lounge has a fireplace with a very efficient wood burner, leading into the dining room and onto the kitchen with my pride and joy Aga that keeps the house warm all year round, a back door out to the very sweet high walled garden with Bbq and downstairs a utility room with washing machine, tumble drier and a separate loo.
Best of all when you open the front door, one side you have shellfish shop selling oysters and moules direct from Utah Beach, so by just walking the length of the corridor you can return to the dining table with a dozen oysters €5 - (fresher than any oysters possible as these come less than 4 miles), people come from all over to buy these specialist oysters! The other side of the front door is 2 restaurants to choose from, across the street a local butcher who cooks on the premises delicious meals which is the French version of a takeaway, 2 bakers in the village, even a hairdresser...
We've tried very hard to beautifully present the house, with restored antique furniture, hand-made curtains, even embroidered towels, along with all the things a traveller will appreciate like top quality linen on the beds, big fluffy towels, towelling dressing gowns & hair driers with some puff!
The cupboards in the kitchen are stocked with oils, stock cubes etc. if my chickens are laying, some freshly laid eggs from our little farm.
Wifi throughout, washing machine, tumble Drier...tv, French & English channels, Dvd player with a selection of movies available to include Band of Brothers and The Longest Day.
The fantastic location is ideal for tasting a bit of real French village life, visiting the D-day landing beaches or simply exploring the nearby Normandy Coast.
We have A La Carte Services from Car Hire to Chauffeur pickups to Tours to delicious home-cooked meals delivered...just ask.

Point du Hoc, Grandcamp Maisy just the other side of the bay can be seen from the village. Carentan, Ste Mere Eglise all a matter of minutes there is the National Park that we are in the heart of, which is a conservation area of significant importance, with the marshes that flood in the winter and in the summer are grazing for the world-class trotting horses bred here and the famous Normandy cows, walks, bike rides, coastline, dunes, cliffs, the beautiful Utah Beach is less than 4 minutes away which is not just a memorial but a gloriously sandy beach with Oyster beds, seals that pop up beside swimmers from time to time, amazing bird life as there is a 1,200 hectare bird sanctuary on the beach, dolphins even seen, safe to swim, clean and not overcrowded.

Or if you prefer we can organise someone to drive you all the way.
As we don't have Sunday trading here and certainly nothing is trading when it's a big holiday check with us dates & day of arrival. The main car hire companies close even in the major cities, Sunday's are tricky too! We really encourage folk to arrive mid week & enjoy the weekend here as there is always something going on, the only day of the week we can't operate is a Sunday, after 17 years here, we give up & have adopted the French way of life!
We are local and live here full time, we are on hand - on your arrival, if you want the information, we give you maps brochures etc. on the area, where to go what to see and very useful tips about timings etc. We fully appreciate that a lot of our short stay guests have limited time here, & once realized how much there is to see & do we can help maximize your experience plus we're also on hand help with any emergency.
We offer free Wifi during your stay!
