Bali’s Abandoned Plane

One of the most unusual tourist attractions in this region is located in the southern part of the Bukit peninsula. There is an abandoned Boeing 737 in the middle of a field on private property. This place is not part of any kind of airport, landing pad or bone yard. No one can really tell how this large plane came to be left in this spot. If you are having a good time at Pandawa Beach you may drive 5minutes to visit Bali’s Abandoned Plane as it is known. This is not the kind of area anyone could easily leave a plane at unnoticed because the Raya Nusa Dua Selatan Highway is nearby. Garuda Wisnu Kencana

Famous as the tallest statue in the entire country, the Garuda Wisnu Kencana is a true marvel from every aspect. It is incredibly detailed depicting the Hindu Lord Vishnu riding his loyal bird whose wings are ready for flight. The genius responsible for this beautiful creation is none other than Nyoman Nuarta who made a suggestion for this project in 1990. The idea gained much support within three years. There was some local resistance for fear that the profits from the creation might not benefit the residents but those in the capital. Four years passed before construction begun for this statue but it took a dismaying amount of time leading to the unveiling in late 2018. The cost for building the Garuda Wisnu Kencana is nearly $100million. Not only is this the tallest statue in Indonesia but also the tallest one of a Hindu god in the world at 75m.

Luhur Uluwatu Temple

Perhaps the most beautiful religious site in Bali, the Luhur Uluwatu Temple has a stunning aerial view and looks amazing viewing it from a high point. It is a continuous construction along the beautiful coast of Bali. This temple has been designed in the pagoda style and has a unique feature that was not initially intended at all. Due to its location near the forest, there are dozens of monkeys that live in the Luhur Uluwatu Temple. Legend has it that these wild monkeys are the guards of this temple. The structure teeters at the edge of a cliff that is almost 230m high overlooking the ocean. There used to be a building where the new temple was constructed and the ancient stone arches date back to the 11th century.
