Porto Rotondo is a small village of the town of Olbia, and one of the most famous and worldly tourist resorts in Sardinia.The city enchants with its churches, countless little piazzas, and the works of great artists who over the years have decorated its streets and focal points.

Piazza San Marco (little square), was designed by the sculptor Andrea Casella and Piazza San Gregorio, also known as the "Old Dock" was designed by the sculptor Giancarlo Sangregorio. The church of San Lorenzo is striking, and is accessed via a solemn staircase consisting by 35 steps. It is described here by a perambulation starting from the west front of the church (facing the length of the Piazza) and proceeding to the right.

Just a few hundred meters from the marina of Porto Rotondo, in the direction of Punta Volpe, you will find Sassi Beach. This beach faces north-west, and has a length of about 100 meters. It consists of fine sand and small stones, and is surrounded by several hills. The seabed is shallow, and the beach is equipped with several facilities such as a bar and restaurant. It's a cozy little beach that's suitable for families with children. To get to Sassi beach from the center of Porto Rotondo just follow the signs to Punta Volpe, until you reach the parking area behind the beach.

Beach Ira is well known by celebrities all over the world, and was named after the actress Ira von Furstenberg . In fact, the beach owes its name to the nearby villa of the famous actress. The beach is located between the Gulf of Porto Rotondo and Cugnana, near the small headlands of Punta Nuraghe, in north-east Sardinia. Ira beach is the main beach of Porto Rotondo, and it happens to be its longest with a length of about 200 meters. It's about 25 meters wide on average. It is located 450 meters west of the smaller Rudargia Beach. Both beaches have white sands and clear blue waters, surrounded by stray rocks and typical Mediterranean greenery.

Ira beach faces north-east, offering marvelous views of the Porto Rotondo bay backed by Isola Soffa 5 kilometers off the Punta Nuraghe coast. Ira beach features plenty of services. There is a restaurant, nearby hotel. Sailing, windsurfing, and other water sports equipment can be rented on-site. Ira beach is well suited for families with children, shallow waters here and for people looking for a chance to relax, or snorkel.


On the other side of Ira Beach, about 1.5 kilometers west of Porto Rotondo, you will find Punta Nuraghe Beach. It is a small beach with a length of about 80 meters. Punta Nuraghe beach faces west, featuring views over the Cugnana Gulf, the small Cala dei Sardi Marina and the larger Portisco Marina to the north-east. The beach has a parking lot behind it, from the parking area Punta Nuraghe can be reached on foot via an 80 meter long path. Beach chairs and umbrellas available for rent, as well as canoes. There are several restaurants and pizzerias nearby. Punta Nuraghe beach is a family-friendly beach, with shallow waters. To reach Punta Nuraghe coming from Olbia, take the SS125 in the direction of Costa Smeralda. Leave the SS125 and continue on the SS99 to Porto Rotondo. Just before entering the village, turn left on the roundabout and continue for about 1 kilometer.
