While Athens has a thriving sea port, there are still many beaches where you can relax. Head to the beach in Vouliagmeni, which is on the southern side of the city. The coastline extends from the port of Piraeus to the suburb of Varkiza, for over twenty-five kilometres. You can take the tram from one part to another to save your feet.


No trip to Athens is complete without a trip to the main Olympic Complex, or OAKA. Much of this region has been modernized with landscaped gardens, fountains, and glass, with not a lot left from historical times, but still worth a visit. You'll be able to see the new blue glass roof that was added to the main stadium. There are many parks and zoos to enjoy in Athens. The Parnitha National Park has several walking paths for all fitness levels.


The National Archeological Museum has many artifacts that have been found in the region. You can also see the Pedion tou Areos (Field of Mars) near the museum. The Numismatic Museum has a large collection of ancient and modern coins on display. If you're heading to the Acropolis to see the Parthenon, you'll also want to visit the new Acropolis Museum.
