Travel information about Bali

Bali is a province and island of Indonesia which is situated on the westernmost of the islands of Lesser Sunda. Located in the middle of the islands of Java and Lombok, the place is one of the most popular holiday destinations of the world. The capital of the province is named “Denpasar” and is one of the largest cities of the island. Renowned for developed arts which include traditional and modern dance, sculpture art, painting, leather art, metalworking and music. The province hosts the famous Indonesian International Film Festival every year and was crowned as “The World’s Top Destination” by TripAdvisor in 2017. The widely spoken languages of the area include Indonesian (official language), Balinese, Balinese Malay, and English.

The earliest settlement on the island was known to be from 2000BC by Austronesian inhabitants who migrated originally from Southern Asia and Oceania to Bali. Culturally and linguistically, the people of Bali show resemblance to the people of Malaysia, Indonesian archipelago, Philippines, and Oceania. The evidence of their presence on the island was found in the village of Cekik. The inscriptions of the island don’t point to a king until the reign of Sri Kesarivarma in the first quarter of the 10th century AD. And that is when the independent Bali with its own language is known to be recognized.
