In the lavish wine-tasting cellar at the base of the Four Seasons Hotel, guests can chat, sample wine, and share small plates. This wine bar features artisan vintners each month and on specific nights, visitors can sample wines directly from the winemaker. The Eristavi family has roots in the Republic of Georgia near the Black Sea. Many experts believe that viniculture, which dates back to 6,000 B.C., was born here and served as the foundation for wine production.
The winery ages its award-winning wines in traditional Georgian clay vessels or French oak barrels. They allow the tannins to drop out to achieve a tasty unique flavor profile. If you'd like to have a bottle of Rose, Rouge, or Merlot at home, become a member of the Wine Club or buy one of the wine packages in the shop. Even if you can get to the winery, this is a great place to start wine tasting. They also offer retail wine sales and membership applications for the Chateau Montelena Wine Club.
