Sunayama Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Okinawa. It's famous for having soft white sand and a rock arch that was formed by sea erosion. The beach also offers views of Miyakojima Island and the sunset.
The Miyako islands are recognized as one of the best diving locations in the world, and the crystal-clear water is home to a huge variety of tropical fish, sea turtles, whale sharks, manta rays, and hundreds of different species of coral. Shirahama Beach is an 800-meter-long stretch of white sand in Shimoda. It's five kilometers to the east of Izukyu-Shimoda Station and a charming Shinto shrine called Shirahama Jinja is located close to the shore. This spot is very busy during the summer months, but families love it here. There are plenty of shops and showers around. Pretty convenient if you're visiting with kids!
